"Dare to Experience" Sehgahunda!
Pronounced (Say-ga-hunda)
Join the Sehgahunda Trail Marathon & Relay group Facebook page to stay up to date with all things regarding Lady Sehgahunda!
The Sehgahunda Valley (“Vale of Three Falls”), which encompasses the portion of the Genesee River Valley, was comprised of several villages settled by the Seneca People. The locations of these villages make up the current boundaries of Letchworth State Park.
Letchworth State Park spans over 14,000 acres, with miles and miles of trails - all with varying degrees of technicality to challenge both experienced runners and casual hikers. Many of the trails that make up this race are the very trails used by the Seneca Indians to access the Genesee River, which bisects this valley, giving rise to its nickname “The Grand Canyon of the East.”
We dare you to experience the beauty, history, and challenge of this unique event!

Leg #2 - 9.3 miles
Leg #3 - 6.5 miles

A MapMyRun course map can be found here.
Note: this is not an official map, just one taken from a GPS watch which can be inaccurate over the long distances, sharp turns, and steep inclines.
Preview runs will all start at 9am, please see below for parking information!
Leg 1- March 25
Run #1 will begin at Mount Morris Dam. Distance is 6.1 miles. There is parking at the dam.
Leg 2 - April 9 - CANCELLED due to heavy rain
We’re meeting at Relay Checkpoint 1 on River Road, between Nunda Rd & Ridge Rd. It’s a bit hard to find if you’re just driving by, but the team & associated cars will be there. This leg is approximately 9.3 Miles. No parking lot, just next-to-road parking.
Leg 3- April 23 CANCELLED due to heavy rain
START at Checkpoint 3 (Relay #2) - where the "out" portion of Preview Run #2 finished. Meet on River Road between Picket Line Rd. and Crossover Rd. There is a blue-blazed trail-head marked #22. Look for the team & associated cars. It's a bit hard to find if you're just driving by, but the team & associated cars will be there. This leg is approximately 6.5 Miles long. No parking lot, just next-to-rd parking.
Parking Request: When driving down River Road just before you get to CP# 3 turn left on Picket Line Road, then take your first right onto Crossover Road which is a small dirt road. Park on the right hand (north) side of Crossover near the intersection of River road. It is then about a 400 meter walk to CP#3.
This is the protocol on race day for all parking at CP#3 at the requirement of the NY State Park Police. River Road at CP#3 is narrow and this will keep everyone from standing in the middle of the road and playing dodge with cars.
Leg 4 - May 6
NEW - Start at Parade Grounds (in Portageville, at the finish), running back to Aide Station 6/Relay Exchange 3 at the intersection of River Rd & Dygert Rd (All parking is at the Parade Grounds). Mix of trails & dirt road – 4.4 miles one way.
Bonus Preview May 6: Check out the course for day 2 running as much or as little of the 5k, 10k and 15k course as you'd like. After we finish up the finish to CP#6 and back we will go over the day 2 out/back courses.
The Parade Grounds entrance to the park is off at Portageville Road in Hunt, NY. GOOGLE MAP for directions. Packet Pickup is at the start line located at the Mount Morris Dam Visitor's Center. There will be a bus to shuttle participants to the start (Mt. Morris), if they so choose. Buses leave the Parade Grounds between 7:00am and 7:15am All participants that do not attend pre-race packet pickup, will need to pick up their packet in the parking lot at the Mount Morris Dam Visitor's Center.
Parking is at the Parade Grounds. Buses will transport runners from the registration point to the start at Mt. Morris Dam. There will be three buses leaving the Parade Grounds between 7:00am and 7:15am. RELAY PARTICIPANTS (except those running the first leg of the relay) will need to take their own vehicles to their respective exchange points along the route on River Road. Buses will NOT be transporting runners to and from exchange points.
