What is ROCtoberfest?

Octoberfest is the big party in September, ROCtoberfest is a 5K and fundraising opportunity for local charities in October. This year will have a COVID-19 twist with lots of safety precautions with social distancing, masks, and corrals, but it's still an IN PERSON event with a limited number of spots available.

Grab your running shoes and lederhosen and celebrate the German way with our ROCtoberfest 5K! Join us at Genesee Valley Park for a 5K run/walk that also will serve as a fundraising event for local charities.  Let's celebrate Rochester and charities in it. Wave Start Time Format: In order to adhere to social distancing requirements, we are using a wave start format for this race.

Here's how it will work:
- All YOU have to do is register
- If you are one of the first 40 people to register, your race will start at 9 AM
- 41 through 80 will start at 10 AM
- 81 through 120 will start at 11 AM
- Etc
- Your confirmation e-mail will give you your exact start time

We understand that this is unlike anything we've done in the past but is the best way to have a great running atmosphere with as many people as possible!

We will be sending out specific COVID-19 protocols before the event which will include your corral/start time and how we will socially distance the start of each event. Please watch your emails.

COVID-19 GUIDELINES

Due to the current COVID-19 global pandemic, we are taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of our staff, participants, and the general community.  As part of the registration waiver process everyone must sign and adhere to this COVID-19 section of the waiver - CLICK HERE

  1. Masks must be worn leading up to the start of your event and immediately following the finish of your event.
  2. All athletes are required to carry hydration with them while on course, there are no water stops
  3. Post-Race food will be prepackaged and in a bag. These will be handed out to you at the finish line upon completion of your event.
  4. Remain physically distant by a minimum of 6 feet at all times, and no congregating before or after your event.
  5. Packet pickup items will be pre-bagged and labeled with your name on it. There is no exchange of shirts or bib numbers available.
  6. Throw out any of your own trash, do not toss it on the ground for staff/volunteers/other athletes to clean up.
  7. There will not be an awards ceremony.  We will email awards within a few days after the event is complete so we can compile results
  8. Results will be available online after the event
  9. Please check your email for specific race day and packet pickup COVID-19 Protocol
  10. No Spectators
  11. Upon completion of the event you must quickly exit the area
  12. All athletes will have their temperature taken in the "temperature corral" prior to the start of your wave. Anyone with a temp higher than 100 degrees will not be allowed to compete and will be asked to leave.
  13. Your start will be in a corral.  There will be a mark on the ground that you must stand on in order to maintain social distancing.  This is required.  So pick your favorite spot to stand on that will provide you the most luck.

 This event has a unique fundraising option where participants can select a nonprofit organization of their choice, form a team, and raise funds or donate to support the charity. Anyone can give to the charity of their choice either as a participant or as a donor!

Packet Pickup

  • Fri Oct 9th 11 - 5PM at Fleet Feet @ The Armory:
    • ARMORY: 155 Culver Rd #110, Rochester, NY 14620
  • Race Day, Sat, Oct 10th, at Genesee Valley Park, near the Cricket Fields, Hawthorne Dr,
    • If you cannot attend pre-race packet pick-up at Fleet Feet, you may pick-up your things at the race site.  (We don't advise waiting till race day) Packet pick-up for each wave will open 45 minutes prior to the wave start time. Please do not try to pick up more than 45 minutes before your wave starts. 
      You will be sent back to your vehicle.  For example, if your start is 9AM - you can pickup between 8:15AM and 9AM.  If your start is 10AM you can pickup beween 9:15AM and 10AM etc...

Awards

  • Overall Male & Female, Age Group Awards to 1st place Male/Female in 10 year age groups (19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & up)

Course/Maps

The Course is different from past years due to COVID-19 adjustments.  The course is predominantly a Cross Country type course mainly on grass.  The Course is a double loop.
